What is TRE?

TRE® is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex of gentle muscular movements. This releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. The body is encouraged to return back to a homeostatic state of balance when this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment.
Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (or TRE®) is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension and trauma impacts us at a psychological and physical level. How is it done?
It is a set of six exercises that help to release deep tension from the body by evoking a self-controlled muscular shaking process in the body called neurogenic tremors. The uniqueness of this technique is that this shaking originates deep in the core of the body, specifically the psoas muscle. These gentle tremors reverberate outwards along the spine releasing tension from the sacrum to the cranium. The exercises are a simple form of stretching and are used to gently trigger these muscle tremors.Once the technique is learned and mastered after several sessions, the warm-up exercises can be accelerated or replaced with your normal exercise activity like walking, cycling or practicing yoga. TRE® then becomes a quick and effective method for consistent relaxation. Eventually, these tremors will evoke themselves naturally in a resting position to reduce any stress or tension that was accumulated over the course of the day.
No need to talk. It is not a talk-based therapy.
